Australia’s agriculture sector has taken a major step toward a low-emissions future with the release of the Zero Net Emissions Agriculture (ZNE-AG) CRC Strategic Plan 2025-2030. The plan sets out a clear vision: to deliver practical, on-farm technologies and systems that enable Australian agriculture to transition toward net-zero emissions while remaining productive and profitable. With growing global and domestic demand for sustainable food and fibre, this strategic plan positions the CRC as a key driver in building credible solutions for methane reduction, soil carbon, nature-based mitigation and whole-farm climate resilience.
Under the plan, the CRC has three strategic themes: develop technologies, demonstrate value, and deliver impact. These themes support enabling functions such as adoption & commercialisation, and education & training, ensuring that innovations move beyond the lab and into paddocks.
The plan recognises that end-to-end change requires strong partnerships with industry, government, research and land managers, and emphasises that measurement, market alignment and transparency will be essential. For growers and agribusinesses, the message is clear: emissions performance will increasingly link to market access, investment readiness and enterprise value.
As the agriculture sector readies for the shift to lower emissions, the ZNE-Ag CRC Strategic Plan 2025-2030 offers a roadmap that aligns research, industry imperatives and sustainability goals.
